The series A Series of Unfortunate Events consists of 13 books by author Lemony Snicket. The recommended grade level for these books are 5th/6th grade. These three books are the first three in the series. In order to properly understand the story line of each book, students should have prior knowledge of each book and read them in order. When teaching these books in class, it would be best to teach the books in entirety. This would be best because the story line is so good and has you on the edge of your seat the whole time, students would want to finish the entirety of the books to find out what happens. All of these books are novels with a dark and mystery genre, students do not need a big vocabulary in order to understand the story. There are a couple pages filled with illustrations throughout each book.
